The Encyclopedia of Speculative Fiction (encyclopedia.wizards.pro) is a fan-written encyclopedia or reference pertaining to anything and everything concerning the speculative fiction genres of science fiction, fantasy, supernatural horror, alternate history, and magical realism. Our primary focus is to offer extensive as well as accurate information on the topics of anime, comics, gaming, literature, manga, movies, and technology (both fictional and factual).

This site is a wiki, meaning that any registered user may contribute to an article by clicking on the Edit this page link that appears in every wiki article that is not designated as a protected page. This makes it very easy for anyone to share their knowledge and insight on any particular subject contained within this wiki.

We were started on November 12, 2005 by Danilo Stern-Sapad as a sort of alternative to Wikipedia, which does not allow as much freedom for fans to create detailed articles on the minutiae of certain fandom due to the fact that the average reader will not find them pertinent. In this sense we aim to provide supplemental material not suitable for a general encyclopedia, such as detailed plot analysis, summaries, or fandom. There are currently 71,743 articles of this nature that are being worked on.

Many articles are based on content taken from both Wikipedia and Wikicites as is noted at the bottom of such pages. Similarly all of this wiki's content is covered by a GNU Free Documentation License except for the Star Trek articles from Memory Alpha, which are released under a Creative Commons License. Contributions remain the property of their respective creators, while the copyleft licensing ensures that the content will always remain freely distributable and reproducible under the terms of the aforementioned licenses.
