Minerva McGonagall (born 4 October c. 1924) has been the Transfiguration teacher at Hogwarts for over forty years[HP5].

She was also Head of Gryffindor House and deputy headmistress until Albus Dumbledore's death, upon which she became Headmistress. She is known for being strict but fair. She is also a member of the Order of the Phoenix.
