Ganks were a race of mechanized sentients often found working for the Hutts on Nar Shaddaa. They often wore similar uniforms, suggesting either a political or planetary affiliation, or a gang (like the Black Vulkars or Hidden Beks of Jedi Civil War-era Taris). This speculation was not proven, however. More often than not, Ganks were very dangerous, and would not hesitate to kill to achieve their unsavory goals.

While visiting Nar Shaddaa after the resurrection of Emperor Palpatine, Han Solo and Leia Organa Solo encountered a squad of Ganks at about the same time Boba Fett reappeared.

Another well-known story about Ganks concerned an encounter between some of them and Mace Windu.
