Force Grip was an infamous dark side ability.

Believed to be an enhanced combination of two neutral force-powers (Force Pull and Force Push) the force grip can be used to grip a target's internal organs. Normally it is effected by lifting the target off their feet, choking them until they suffocate. During this, the Force user could optionally, slam the choking target into a wall or sending him flying over an precipice.

While the attacker can quite simply break the target's neck, the more agonious death by strangulation appears to be favored by the Sith (and, most prominently among them, Darth Vader). Some Jedi are also able to make use this ability.

Appearances

It was used briefly by both Darth Tyranus against Obi-Wan Kenobi at the beginning of Revenge of the Sith, and by a deluded Anakin Skywalker against the pregnant Padmé.

In the Clone Wars micro-series, Mace Windu is seen using a similar power on General Grievous.

Luke Skywalker used this in Jabba Hutt's palace to "persuade" the guard.

Darth Vader also used this on many Imperial officers who failed him, as seen in A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi.
