Emancipator, several Mon Calamari floating cities and a considerable number of the New Republic fleet.

The First Battle of Dac, also known as the Battle of Mon Calamari, was the battle when the reborn Emperor Palpatine's forces attacked the temporary New Republic capital Dac. Six years after his technical death at the Battle of Endor, the Emperor Palpatine returned in a clone body. He retook control of the Imperial forces and striking from Byss retook the New Republic capital world Coruscant. Then to punish the Mon Calamari for supporting the New Republic, he unleashed his new super weapons the World Devastators. These deadly machines were able to recycle an entire world's surface to create weapons of war.

The Imperial forces attacked Dac from Byss, which was the Emperor's capital world in the Deep Core. World Devastators descended to the planet's surface and began devouring shipyards, floating cities and its defenses. Admiral Ackbar ordered an evacuation of the world sending Blue and Green squadrons to escort the survivors to Da Soocha V. New Republic reinforcements arrived quickly lead by Wedge Antilles and Lando Calrissian in the captured Imperial Star Destroyer Emancipator.

However there was an Imperial blockade at Mon Calamari to ensure that the World Devastators went unhindered. The New Republic fleet that arrived form hyperspace had to fight through the blockade. The Emancipator then launched its X-wing and V-wing squadrons into the surface. These headed in Dac ready to battle the World Devastators. But the World Devastators had accumulated enough resources to produce a fleet of new assault vehicles, including TIE/D Fighters and Wavewalkers. They destroyed countless New Republic ships. Eventually, the Emancipator was consumed by one of the World Devastators, forcing its crew to escape into escape pods or face a fiery death in the World Devastator's furnaces. Things began to look bad for the New Republic, but suddenly the tide changed again. New Republic reinforcements led by the latest vessels in the New Republic Fleet arrived from hyperspace. E-wing starfighters engaged the TIE/D Fighters while rescue frigates rescued the Emancipator's escape pods. However even the E-wings could not penetrate the defenses of the World Devastators. Luckily for the New Republic, Luke Skywalker through having apparently joined the Emperor and become his Supreme Commander, had tampered with the Master Control Signal on Byss. This caused the loss of 3 Devastators.

Then help arrived in the form of Han Solo, Salla Zend, Chewbacca, Leia Organa Solo, C-3PO and R2-D2 onboard the Millennium Falcon. Luke Skywalker had infiltrated the Emperor's Citadel on Byss by apparently deserting the New Republic. Later, his companions tried to rescue him though they failed. However, Luke had hidden the master control codes for the World Devastators in R2-D2. However, he had left himself on Byss in order to destroy the Emperor's clones. The droid was able to shut down the World Devastators. But the factories within the World Devastators still churned out deadly Wavewalkers. The sea commandos rode onboard Amphibion transports towards the World Devastators but were confronted by Wavewalkers. Soon fighting took place on top of the World Devastators between stormtroopers and sea commandos. Meanwhile R2-D2 used the codes stored in his systems to create a virus, intended to interfere with the Devastator's central computers. This code started up the Devastators again , though they were tasked with devouring each other this time. The mighty World Devastators turned against each other, devouring each other and littering the ocean planet with debris and dead hulks of the deadly superweapons under the depths of the oceans. The New Republic had scored an important victory against the reborn Emperor Palpatine and the Galactic Empire.
