Description

Defence Against the Dark Arts is a subject that teaches you wizard all sort of defences againts dark magic, dark wizards and dark creature.

It is unfortunate however that none of the Professors that ever taught the class manage to hold the position for more than a term (a year).

A known person that had applied for the position and was denied from it was Lord Voldemort himself. Albus Dumbledore mention this to Harry Potter and stated that ever since Voldemort was denied from the position no Professor had manage to keep the job for more than a year. Rumour on the other hand, has it that the job is jinxed.

Severus Snape, Hogwarts Potion Master originally applied for the position but, was denied from it until Harry's 6th year.

Defence Against the Dark Arts is also Harry Potter's best subject and this was proven in his third year when they actually have a professor 'who knows the subject', Remus Lupin.
