Arthur Weasley is married to Molly Weasley whom he met at Hogwarts when they were both students. The Weasleys makes their home at The Burrow in Ottery St. Catchpole in southwest England. Arthur and Molly have six sons (Charlie, Bill, Percy, Fred, George and Ron) and a daughter, Ginny. The Weasley home is a wonderful warren of rooms filled with oddities, such as the Weasley family clock that has a hand for each member of the family and points to where that person is at any time. The house is almost always full of young people, both family and friends, and Harry spends a part of several summers and other holidays at The Burrow.

As a pure-blood wizard who refuses to discriminate against Muggle-born and or half-blood wizards and witches, Arthur earns the contempt of Lucius Malfoy. In fact, not only does Arthur Weasley refuse to believe that pure born wizards are superior to Muggles, he takes an active interest in all things Muggle, sometimes with comical results. His Ford Anglia that has been bewitched is borrowed by Harry and Ron in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets who fly it to Hogwarts when they miss the Hogwarts Express.
While Arthur Weasley is often seen as a character of fun in some of the early books, with the return of Lord Voldemort and the gathering crisis in the wizarding world he must shoulder a role of increasing challenges, assuming duties within the Order of the Phoenix and new responsibilities at the Ministry of Magic. He is protective of Harry, and at times assumes a father-like role, a position also occupied by Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, and Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts.
In the wizarding world, Arthur Weasley plays the role of the well-meaning, reasonably competent everyman, trying to raise a family and do the right thing. He is a man of principle, and remains loyal to Dumbledore, even though this costs him the respect of his son, Percy, and places his entire family in 'mortal peril' according to the family clock.
